[…] The most important reason I choose to keep trading is because I have to prove that this skillset will be a difference maker for my family in how money and investing is handled compared to how I was brought up […]

I was asked by Tim Justice to write an article on why I trade and there are a few reasons that came to my head why I began my journey almost 3 years ago.
For one, I knew that working my 9–5 job and having a Roth IRA (which I started after reading Tony Robbins Money Master the Game) wasn’t going to cut it for me to achieve what I wanted for myself, not only for the long haul but short term as well financially.
Now even though I knew that wasn’t the full solution to my problem or how I was feeling at the time, I didn’t know what I didn’t know either, but I knew there was something better. With that said I was doing an immense amount of personal development at the time and came across the book Rich Dad Poor Dad from a friend I met at the gym I used to workout at back in Stafford, VA.
Loved the mindset of it all and, to make a long story short, it has led me to meet Matt Justice in Washington D.C. where he was teaching financial education. After meeting Matt, he taught me more about economics and investing than I ever learned studying business for 5 years at VCU. Then that’s when I felt like I figured out that “something better” part to help solve my current situation for myself. I saw a way where I can take not only control of my finances but control of my time because I felt like that’s what I was being deprived of at my desk job every day that quite frankly I was miserable doing waiting for 5pm to come knocking.
Like I mentioned earlier, it’ll be 3 years for me trading the financial markets and it’s been quite the experience that I never thought I could pursuit after graduating from college. The reason why I keep moving forward every day is that it has provided me a skillset that can open up other opportunities for me to chase after that don’t even involve trading!
I see that in the future it can provide a path for me to travel like my good friend Bobby Shannon who was a pivotal person in my life that held my hand at the beginning of my trading. The proceeds of my trading can be used to open a personal training facility which is something that dominates my thoughts regularly. But the most important reason I choose to keep trading is because I have to prove that this skillset will be a difference maker for my family in how money and investing is handled compared to how I was brought up, which I would bet there’s a large number of people through this community who were taught similar habits.
With that said, that’s why we’re all fortunate enough to have come across the coaches of Tackle Trading to help guide us in the pursuit of our financial goals.

All investing and trading in the securities market involves a high degree of risk. Any decisions to place trades in the financial markets, including trading in stocks, options or other financial instruments, is a personal decision that should only be made after conducting thorough independent research, including a personal risk and financial assessment, and prior consultation with the user’s investment, legal, tax and accounting advisers, to determine whether such trading or investment is appropriate for that user.
Marques Johnson. Full-time Trader.
I’m from Virginia and I grew up in a military home where I was raised by two parents who provided me the best of both worlds from how to be a good person and how to be self-sufficient in life. I’ve been trading for three years now and each year there’s always something significant I learn because the markets are changing all the time. I particularly focus on trading stock and futures options but trading isn’t the only thing I’m passionate about. Fitness is a significant aspect of my life and personal training is what I do throughout the day, so the balance of trading and fitness is a great mix for me mentally and physically which keeps me motivated every day.null
